Social Mixers

We're always out hiking the Adirondacks or other places on the weekends, or meeting up to kayak, bike or ski, depending on the season.   Time has shown that keeping this page up to date on everything we do is quite a challenge, so we now have a Facebook page that you can check and join to keep up with things!

We also strongly encourge members and folks wishing to join the Club to join our Yahoo Group, where we maintain a large database of files and photos, and maintain a mailing list  message board.

----2009 Highlights----

In addition to another successful trash clean-up hike at Spa State Park, 2009 saw hikes to Mt. Marcy and Lake Tear of the Clouds, as well as Peaked Mountain, Giant, Noonmark and Hurricane, Biking events, A X-C Ski trip to Camp Santanoni, and Kayaking on Round Lake.

We were also pleased to announce the success of our Second Annual Winter Festival: Celebration for Preservation, a charity event held for Saratoga P.L.A.N.    This family-oriented day featured a craft show, snow sculpture contest, live music as well as an adult and children’s cross 5K and 1K "13 and under" country ski races.

The event raised funds for the stewardship and protection of Saratoga P.L.A.N.’s Manning Cove Preserve, a 159-acre nature preserve along the northwest shore of Saratoga Lake. This unique property, provides critical habitat for fish and wildlife, safeguards water quality and floodwater retention on Saratoga Lake, provides scenic views and offers recreational opportunities for boaters and kayakers.

In 2008 the Club hiked Sleeping Beauty, the Tongue Mountain range, Giant, Hurricane, Noonmark and Peaked mountains, just to name a few!

We  kayaked on Lake George and held a kayak/BBQ and Blue Heron watching day at Round Lake.  In addition the club organized and participated in a number of biking outings.

The Club's Annual Fall Trash Clean up of Spa State Park was a huge success this year and after the hike we held a small BBQ and game of touch football.  Read press coverage here.

To Learn more about upcoming events and get involved, join us on Facebook and the Club's Yahoo mailing list!

Come join us at our regularly scheduled Social Mixers, held on the second Thursday of each month from 7pm until 10pm.  It's a great opportunity to mingle with other outdoor enthusiasts, share a tall tale, watch our club slideshow, meet guests and learn about (or help plan) upcoming events! Finger foods will be available, suggested donation if $5. Good tunes, drink specials and in the warm atmosphere on the 2nd floor of the City Tavern in downtown Saratoga Springs, NY (19-21 Caroline Street).  21 and over please!

You don’t need to be a member to attend our monthly mixers. You will find friendly folks who love the outdoors and adventure sports.  There are always great food and drink specials available and we often feature outdoor adventure films, guest speakers, slide shows or demonstrations.

Folks interested in helping grow the Club should arrive an hour earlier, at 6pm, when we hold our monthly Organizer's Meeting and plan upcoming hikes and other events for the month, season or year.

If this sounds like fun then we want to meet you, so stop on by!
